Investments Committee: Investing for Eager Students

An Investing Committee, Why?

Most of us did it to deepen our knowledge, refine our skills, and forge meaningful connections in fields that interest us. Such exploration compels us to extend our curiosity beyond the classroom and seek meaningful communities which share our enthusiasm. That is why the student-run investment club at Tilburg University, A&F Investments, is so special: it provides a setting where our drive and passion can flourish.

There is no greater fulfillment than pursuing your curiosity, especially when it leads to remarkable achievements. My time at A&F Investments has continuously deepened my interest in financial markets through projects that made a substantial impact on our fund. For instance, introducing a new macroeconomic framework for risk budgeting and strategic allocations not only improved A&F Investments’ portfolio performance, but it also shaped my passion for active investing.

The Chair

As Chairman of A&F Investments, my mission is to empower Tilburg University’s most motivated finance students with passion, expertise, and meaningful connections. We pursue our vision by actively managing a five-digit, long-only equity portfolio with one clear goal: Beat the market—a target that 90% of active equity funds worldwide fail to achieve. Despite these odds, we are proud of our success, having achieved a 7.7% alpha return over our benchmark in 2024.

The Future

Such experiences clarified my future path as I cannot wait to further explore my interests through a career in asset management. It just so happens that A&F Investments has equipped me with the technical skillset and enthusiasm to excel in the fast-paced world of financial markets
