What does the Accounting Expedition Committee do?
The Accounting Expedition is a two day event during which a group of 20 participants will visit four different accounting firms, the Big Four companies (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC) in their offices in Eindhoven. The accounting firms will provide the participants with cases, lunches and dinners. Each day, we will visit two companies, have the opportunity to work on relevant cases, as well as get to know the companies and their employees better. During the expedition, the participants will stay in a hotel.
This event is open for all students with an interest in Accountancy and is not based on CV-selection. The deadline to register is February 17 2025. Register at this link!
Recap of last year
On the 19th and 21st of February 2024 the Accounting Expedition took place. On the early Wednesday morning we gathered at Tilburg Central Station in order to go to the Big Four accountancy firms in Eindhoven. After dropping off our bags at the hotel we went to the first firm: Deloitte. We had an interesting workshop there about the business chemistry test, and how to best work with people who might have different personality traits. After the workshop we went to the center of Eindhoven where we had lunch with the people of Deloitte. After lunch, we went to the second company: EY. With this company we had an interesting and fun case study where we had to identify the fraudster in small groups. Afterwards we had a drink at the company, where more auditors joined us. In the evening, we went with EY to the PSV stadium, where we had dinner. The night ended at the hotel, where some students had a small drink before going to bed.
The second day started at KPMG where we had an interesting case study about sustainability, which becomes more relevant in the auditing profession. Afterwards, lunch was provided at the office, a nice poke bowl which we could make ourselves. After lunch we headed to the last office of the AccEx: PWC. For once, we arrived even a bit early at the office! After a small introduction and tour through the office, we headed with a bus to the company Swinkels. Two auditors who audit the company explained more about the audit process and afterwards we had a small tour through the Bavaria brewery. Back in Eindhoven we finished the day with dinner. It was once again a successful edition of the Accounting Expedition!
